Do you ever feel like your stuck a cycle of the same season of life? Like nothing is ever going to change and your unfortunate circumstances are going to consume you?
Thinking back to the summer of 2018, I was laying in a hospital bed, newly paralyzed and unsure of what my future would look like. I was in a season of uncertainty, and let me tell you, I was scared! I rarely showed those emotions, but I was scared. There were both good and bad days. I was in and out of physical therapy sessions and surrounded by amazing nurses and PTs, but I worried about what life would look like at home and away from that environment. What was my new reality going to look like.
I remember this one occupational therapy session where I was trying to maneuver my legs and take my shoes off. My OT was amazing and encouraged me to keep trying, despite the fact that I was in tears. When the session was over and I was back in my room, she gave me a piece of paper with this quote on it “you are about to experience BREAKTHROUGH after BREAKTHROUGH because what you’ve been through didn’t break you”. She looked me in the eyes and told me to never give up because the Lord is going to give you a breakthrough.

My OT could have never been more right! I was able to get my shoes off by the time I was discharged from the hospital! But that wasn’t the only breakthrough I experienced. Looking back on the past 3 years, God has provided during each season of uncertainty. He’s not only provided, but EXCEEDED my expectations! God isn’t going to put you through something without having a greater purpose for it. There’s scripture in Romans that correlates with that quote my OT gave me. Romans 5:3-5 says “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” I mean, WOW!!! This scripture really resinated with me during that time in my life and even now! The suffering I was experiencing molded me into the person I am today and caused me to cling to Jesus more than I ever had.
I don’t know what you’re going through, but there’s a purpose for your suffering. Don’t give into the lies the devil it telling you. Wait on the Lord because I promise you, your breakthrough is coming.
